As most fo you will be aware of my now, I am a bit of a lingerie addict. Always on the look out for new labels doing something fun and exciting.
I've written about this before - that our dear friend Angie from Norwegian Wood, a label which has been a constant on this blog for many years now, has extended her considerable design skills into lingerie.
I spoke with Angie, when she first talked about doing lingerie, a few years ago and it was an exciting proposition. Brave too, since lingerie design is actually a very involved and technically challenging endevour. But if anyone was up for that challenge, it was certainly Angie.
At the time I tried to imagine what she'd create and the final results were nothing like I expected at all, but now I've seen them, the designs already feel very signature to her.
She sent me through 2 sets to test run and I can say, with my hand on my heart, it is possibly some of the most well designed, comfortable and striking lingerie I have ever worn. Every single details appears carefully considered from the velvet cups, to the harness elastic. And oh yes, the harness detailing - it's quite simply stunning.
I've wanted to wear simple triangle bras for ages now but can't because they don't offer any kind of support, but what Angie has cleverly done is make it of a reasonably sturdy fabric and added extra support with the racer back style and the double ribcage straps. It works.
I hate forced cleavage, and most bras sadly always give me some sort of cleavage which feels crass to me, but these bras gently cup the breasts and allow them to sit naturally separated, whilst not jiggling around uncomfortably.
The knickers are my favoured style - high waisted, vintage style. The older I get, the less happy I am in teeny little knickers, but I'm not quite ready for M&S belly warmers just yet! Comfort is a huge factor but the design feels fresh, modern and subtly sexy. The black ruffled pair appear more playful but are perfectly easy to wear for daytime. But also, overall it all still feels very modest, with actually little flesh being bared, compared to most underwear. It feels more like wearing a wonderful 50's bikini.
For me, this is a triumph for Angie. She seems to have considered every aspect of her designs. It's absolutely my favourite underwear in my vast underwear collection.
